Hello, guys! welcome back to my story. This article is written about my journey in Yunnan province, China. Yes, it is the trip that  just ends about a month ago but I just have time to write about the backpack story. This trip is my longest journey in China, 20 days! I went to Yunnan and Shaanxi province.

Actually, this is my second time for visiting Yunnan. I have ever been there last two years in March. But that time I went to Shangri-la where Tibetan people living. I don’t know much about that city. So, I want to go back again and I want to research for more information to make me understand about Tibetan’s culture and arts.

Last year, AirAsia, the low-cost airline had a promotion for traveling in China two ways, go and back only 1,250 THB (about $40). Super cheap! When I buy that ticket, I asked my friends if they wanna join my trip. Finally, we are four persons in the group to journey this trip together.

For anyone who doesn’t want to read a long article, you can read this summarizing. I will show you the traveling planning. Let see!

Day1 : Bangkok – Kunming
For the first date, I fly to Kunming and then wait for taking a flight to Lijiang. I book the domestic ticket from ctrip about 2,000 THB. Before I travel to Lijiang I asked my friend who lives in Lijiang to help me find a taxi driver to pick me up at the airport. Aha, I have a lot of Chinese friends and most of them are traveling friends. When I arrived Lijiang, the driver named Peter Deng come to pick me up. His English is pretty good! If you guy want to contact him to asking his service you can contact him directly at this Email: liondeng@qq.com or call to him at this number 13988871059. He also uses a Wechat, his ID is 13988871059.

Today I stay at my friend’s hotel which located in Lijiang old town. Hotel’s name is Warm Flower Guest House.

img_0216

Day 2 : Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and Blue moon valley

Because of my traveling time is on Chinese National day. I really afraid that the traveling attraction places will be crowded with a lot of people. So, today I want to visit the main place. I bought One-day trip from my friend in Old town. You can buy a ticket in the old town. It is very easy to find and there are a lot of agencies. Why don’t I go to the mountain by myself? Ah, I have thought and seeing that One Day Trip is really OK for me because the guide will pick me up at the hotel and it is a very small group, 8 people in the group on that day. Ticket’s price is 530 RMB for including Oxygen can, entrance fee ticket, Cable car ticket, Lunch (not delicious) and jacket.

img_0831

Day 3 : Lijiang Old town

Today is the first date of Chinese National day! Most of the ticket price will be discount 20%! How luckily I am, Haha. I really surprised that today there are not too many tourists. Where are them? Main places in this old town are Big Water Wheel, Black dragon pool (this place pay full price 80 RMB), Lion Hill for visiting the roofs of the old town, and Mu Palace.

img_1197-t

Day 4 : Renting car to Shangri-la and visit Tiger Leaping Gorge

As I told you, we are 4 persons in a group. So, I tell my friends that we should rent a car for going to Shangri-la because the price is not expensive for four of us and we can stop to take some photos on the way too. All of them follow my suggestion. “If you think it is a good choice just do it! we will follow you”, they said. This trip only myself who can speak Chinese (basic skill). So, they want me to be a guide leader. I rent a car to Shangri-la with the price 800 RMB. Peter Deng is the driver for this time again! While we going to Shangri-la we hit Tiger Leaping Gorge, 65 RMB for the Entrance ticket at this place.

We arrived Shangri-la old town, Zhongdian about 5pm. Our hotel, Shangri-La E-Outfitting Star is located behind Sumtsaling Monastery

img_1715

Day 5 : Visit Zongzanlin Monastery

In front of Sumtsaling Monastery is a bus stop where we can take a bus no. 3 to go Zongzanlin Monastery. It’s very easy to go that place. Bus ticket only 2 RMB. Our destination is the terminal station. So, you don’t need to worry about taking a bus to there. Entrance fee ticket is 115 RMB. When you finish the traveling just back to the main office where you buy a ticket and take the bus no.3 to go back to the old town. Evening time you can visit Zhongdian old town too.

img_1382

Day 6 : Zhongdian Old town

Today, all of us want to relax and we want to chill in the old town. I have a recommended place to visit is Thanka’s Institute. Thanka is a well known Tibetan art which uses highly skill to draw. This institute will show you for what is Thanka and see the process and it’s story. If you want to buy some souvenir in Zhongdian old town is ok. The price is not too much expensive.

In the evening, we take a taxi to Bus station for buying a long distance bus ticket to Kunming. Just in case if there are a lot of people.

Day 7 : Long distance Shangri-la to Kunming

You should prepare yourself well before leaving Shangri-la by long distance bus because of it will take time about 12 hours! Prepare food, water and something to entertain yourself. When you arrive the terminal bus station and walk out the station, many car or taxi drivers will come you and ask if you interest to take a car. I have no idea for this situation because Chinese can’t speak English well and we can’t speak Chinese well also. I talk to my friends to take a taxi for saving the time and we are four people so don’t need to worry about the price much. From bus station to my hotel in Kunming is 50 RMB for a taking taxi from there. Yes, taxi in China is a metered-taxi but they do not use it for tourists.

Day 8 : Kunming City tour (or go to Stone Forest)

At first, we planned to visit the stone forest but three of us ever been there already. That’s why we change the plan to walk around and sightseeing Kunming city. I don’t like Kunming city. Many people are smoking and I feel really bad at my nose when I smell smoke from them. For you, know never been to Stone forest. I recommend you to go that place. You can save the stone forest photo on your mobile phone and ask the receptor to help you. Very easy for going that place.

Spring City Star Hotel Natie Branch is the hotel where I stay in Kunming. In my opinion, this hotel is OK. the Location is pretty good but the internet is not fair. If you want to surf Chinese websites, it is OK. But I have no reason why I should visit Chinese website? I can’t read it! Haha. VPN in this hotel is suck too.

img_1953

Day 9 : Kunming – Dali

I ever read other traveler’s plan. Most of them will start the trip from Dali then go to Lijiang and end at Shangri-la. Why I travel back to Dali? because of I change my plan again haha. At first, I want to visit Guizhou but the time is not OK for travel there. Many people, far and yeah tired. That’s why we go to Dali instead. Take bus to Dali is 6 hours with the ticket price 110 RMB

When I arrive Dali bus station, I take a taxi to my hotel where located in Dali old town. Hotel named Monster B&B. taxi price about 60 RMB. I really highly recommend this hotel. Dali is very beautiful and peaceful. I LOVE IT!!

img_2817

Day 10 : Motocycle & Chilling in Dali

I don’t have any plan in Dali because I not noted this place on my first plan. When I arrive here, Wow! it is so beautiful and peaceful. I think it is much better than Lijiang. I rent an electric motorcycle 60 RMB for traveling by myself in this old town. Be careful! the electric-motorcycle is only allowed to drive in the normal street, not the too much slope street.

Dali has a big lake and some flower garden. Don’t miss it!

img_2583

Day 11 : The Chongsheng Temple and the Three-Pagoda

The most famous place which rated as 5A traveling place of China in Dali is “The Chongsheng Temple and the Three-Pagoda”. When I park my motorcycle I saw a man who ask me if I want to buy a ticket and he can buy for me as a local price. 100RMB for one. I make a deal with him and yes pay the entrance ticket only 100RMB. The guide says I have to take 4 hours to travel this zone. We spent 6 hours! Really beautiful place in Dali!

img_2901

Day 12 : Bus to Kunming

I buy a bus ticket back to Kunming from my hotel. The bus stop for back to Kunming is not much far from the hotel. I stay at the same hostel in Kunming.

img_2771

Day 13 : Travel to Xi’an

My friends fly back to Bangkok and I will fly to Xi’an. Our Yunnan trip ends of this day. However, my journey in China is still not finished because I still have 7 days remains on this trip. I ever been in Xi’an before in March, 2016. And I also wrote about that trip on my blog already. You can search it for that story 🙂

Finally, How about my plan? I hope this plan will help you manage your Yunnan trip. If you have any question about the trip, you can ask me through a comment or message me in my Facebook fan page. See ya!

I have been to Krabi many times especially Lanta island. Almost every year that I go there again and again because of I have friends who stay there and the island is also beautiful by itself. No wonder why I really love to take my holidays there if I want to enjoy Sea and Sun.

Moreover, there are many islands around Lanta where travelers can join like swimming, snorkeling or scuba diving. I went to most of them except “Koh Rok Island”

“Wait… you never been to Rok island?” Toey, asks me.

“Yeah, I have never been there. Most of the time when I have a vacation here, I always go to another island except that”

“Uhhh… my younger brother. You miss the thing! So, this time you can’t miss this island. I will make a plan for you. OMG! I can’t believe that you never been there. How come?!”

Yeah.. my sister she always kind to me and as you can tell, I get a plan for traveling to Koh Rok island.

I go to the pier at 8:45 am. The guide says we will take 1 hour from Lanta island to Koh Rok island by speed boat. If anyone wants to take a nap, just do it. who want to take the photo, just go but make sure that you do that thing with carefully because of the boat will wave sometimes.

img_4185

While I am on the boat. As a chatty guy, I say hi to others who travel the same boat. I think it is a good thing to do while traveling as we can know more people and can share about traveling story. I know many new places because of talking with new friends.

Today, most of the travelers are Asian. And yeah most of Asian is… Chinese. Not too much European. I have been to China many times. So, I can speak some basic Chinese. That’s why I keep communicating with Chinese in the group. They are excited when I ask them that are they speaking Guangzhou language? How surprised they are and they really curious to know how can I tell that what language they are using. I told them that I ever heard a friend from Guangzhou talk like this.

One hour later, we arrive Koh Rok. All of us get our camera to take photos, videos. We are so excited about how clear water it is and the sand here is really white!

“We will stop at this island first for shift our lunch to serve here but we will not get off here. We will go snorkeling at there, two places. Here we stop only for shifting the food and we will be back here at lunch time” the guide says.

When staff finishes transferring food to the shore, speed boat takes us to the first place for snorkeling. I am ready now and really want to go swimming! I need sea sand sun!

img_4157

Among our group, some people can’t swim. The Guides teach them for how to use the mask and make sure that they are using a life jacket. Chinese travelers look nervous because they can’t swim. One of them told me that she afraid.

img_4178

How about me? Uh.. I really love swimming. So, I jump to the sea and enjoy my snorkeling. The water here is very clear. I really proud of how beautiful of my country. Underwater here is also wonderful.

img_4160

Suddenly, I heard Chinese voice saying “Help me!!!”. I looking for where it comes from and I see a Chinese woman is waving her hand and asking for help. I swim to her. She already takes life jacket and has a ring swim. Why she looks so nervous. I really confuse.

“Help me!” she said to me. I told her that please calm down, everything is OK you will be safe. She still in panic and look not ok. I decide to swim and take her to the boat. When I take her to the boat she says thank you to me and I tell her that it’s ok. I think how pity that she can’t swim and can’t enjoy the beautiful of underwater.

However, the guide says he will take care her and bring her to enjoy the swimming and snorkeling by himself.

img_4156

Koh Rok island is located in Krabi province. However, it is not too much far from Trang island. Koh Rok island has to part called Koh Rok Nai and Koh Rok Nok. I can’t remember which one is Nai or Nok. Haha.

img_4175

We spent 45 minutes for snorkeling at the first place. I really enjoy my snorkeling experience. Chinese travelers say it is super beautiful and they so impress the beauty of Thai sea. They like Thai sea and Koh Rok is wonderful as other say.

img_4167

That Chinese woman who asking for help, now she is enjoying snorkeling with the guide. She changes a mask to be a full face mask. That mask is my friend mask. He is not going snorkeling with me because he stays in Lanta island and comes to this island many times. He just wants to stay on the boat and take the photo. I feel so great because he is a really talented man who takes a photo really cool!

img_4169

Everyone has his/her own traveling goal. Someone travel for holidays, some travel for learning and some go for finding the inspiration. But no matter what it is if we are happy on it, it is worthy. I have a friend from China who really love Thailand and beaches but he never wants to go swim in the sea. He told me that he already happy to see the sea, lie down on the beach, listening to the wave. It is enough for pleasure him.

img_4189

Happy time is always fly so fast! it is 12pm already and we need to have lunch. The guide shows us the sign that we need to swim back to the boat and take us to the main island for having lunch. This meal is really delicious. I like Massaman Gai (Chicken curry with coconut cream… Local Thai food). How about fruits? Yeah, always watermelon and pie-apple. I don’t know why every trip always serves this kind of fruits.

img_4204

Koh Rok island is very plentiful. If you do not believe me you can go there by yourself and you will see on the main island has a lot of Water monitor. Foreigners are excited to meet this kind of animal.

img_20161030_113532-01

Not only how white sand here, water is also super clear. My friend say if today has the sunshine, water will be clearer! I said that now it is already clear! I can’t imagine how will be clearer it is. I should come back here again. haha.

img_20161030_120410-01

I looking to the trees and see somethings moving. OMG! it is hermit crab. Lots of crabs!!! They make me remind to my time in primary school. That time I learn about hermit crab that spent his life inside the can or bottle because human keep all of sea shells to sell. So, when I see the hermit crabs here stay in sea shell, I feel so good.

img_4247-t

Life is short. Do whatever you want to do. Most of the people say that what make them feel sad is they not do what they want. Just procrastinate. I feel so glad that I know what exactly I want in my life. I know that I love to travel and work. That’s why I plan to work for 8 months and travel for 4 months. I ever wonder how European travelers can travel for years without working? I want to have a life like that too. Haha.

2016-10-30-07-02-54-1-01

I really appreciate to Lantatoday who give me a chance to travel this Exclusive trip. You are making my day! Teoy says she just want me to experience Krabi and she doesn’t need me to talking about her. But I have to give her a credit here for her kindness. She told me that if I found something not OK, please let her know. Because of my comment will be a great feedback to help her understand what she needs to develop more as a tour agency.

img_20161030_123604-01

After we finish our lunch on the main island. We go snorkeling at the last place. Yes, this trip we will snorkel 3 points. Two in the morning and one in the afternoon. The final point is super beautiful! Attractive than the two places in the morning! We also spent 45 minutes at this snorkeling place. Then we are back to Lanta island.

Lanta Sand Resort and Spa

I stay at Lanta Sand Resort and Spa. The room is Pool Access which connected to the swimming pool. When I open the door I can swim from my room! How cool! Teoy really knows me well. Haha. LOVE this room!

This hotel is good for people who love to swim. As I said that the room is connected to the swimming pool. On that day, there are not too many people. It feels like this is my private pool.

You can see how happy she is! However, I think this room is too big for living alone. My room has 3 zones. from the main door is the bedroom. The second zone is toilet which very big and the final zone which connected to the swimming pool is a living room. See? so big for a single traveler like me. 3 zones, 2 TV and fast internet.

This is the first zone, bedroom. You can see that it is too big. I think it is good for a couple traveling or family traveling. But if you like a hotel which provides a big room to you. This hotel is super OK for your need.

The third zone is a living room which come with 1 television.

And yeah, this is my backpack story in Krabi for this time. I hope you guys will know more about Krabi. Now I still have many stories is waiting to share. Where will be my next destination and what will be my next story? Please keep in touch to get updating. See you again mate!

Hey man! I am back! This story I am writing while in traveling in Krabi. Actually, I just back from China. But as you know, the internet in China is terrible. I can’t access any main social media so I think I will write about traveling in my Yunnan trip later. Let talking about Krabi first.

I get an invitation from my kindness sister from Lanta island. She asks me if I interest in traveling in Krabi. Oh, Krabi is my favorite place. Why don’t I interest in it? She says OK and invites me to travel there. She prepares everything. What I need to prepare is only prepare myself. That’s why I just back from China and then I am here Krabi.

I take a flight by low-cost airline, Thai lion air airline. It is only 1 hour from Bangkok to Krabi. Thai Lion air is cheap but the seat looks narrow. I saw a western guy sit not comfortable much.

When I reach Krabi airport. Bang (the name for calling a Muslim man who older) show a paper which written my name on it. I leave the exist gate and greeting him. We take a van to the hotel first. Our hotel is located in Ao Nang, 40 minutes from the airport.

hotel1

Let me introduce Bang first. Bang will be a tour guide for my trip in Krabi. He is super friendly! When we are in the van, he introduces Krabi to me to help me understand his province. His English is awesome too. He told me that his job is a tour guide for foreigners. No wonder why he can speak English well.

When I arrive Andaman Pearl Resort where I will stay on this trip. I check in and take some rest in the room. This hotel as a nice view. We can see the mountain and has a swimming pool. I think this hotel is good but has something that inconveniences for me. They are:

hotel2

  • The bathroom’s floor that slippery. Umm because of the tiled floor that not OK. it should be rougher.
  • The hot water control is very high from the floor. I tall 173 cm and I still need to reach out to use it. How about people who shorter than me? they must take a cold water in winter for sure. Haha
  • The bathroom’s floor is not the same level but uses the same tiled floor color! I almost fall down.
  • This hotel does not provide you a toothbrush, and tooth phase. So, bring your own.

Actually, they are just a minor thing that I think it is not convenience. In the other hands, this hotel provides good internet clean room and locker.

OK. let see what I have done on today in Krabi trip.

ร้านอาหารอยู่กลางน้ำ

Because of I arrive the hotel at noon. So, Bang comes to pick me up for having dinner at 1 pm. He brings me to the Floating Restaurant. We order seafood for this lunch.

14714931_10154122423818507_195175421294058708_o

I am full now and want to travel. Bang takes me to our next destination. I sit on the long tail boat. The two sides of me are the mangrove forest. Very beautiful! It looks like a door facade which welcomes the travelers like us. I really LIKE IT!

14615742_10154122510988507_8270880084494397906_o

“Now, is the neap tide time” Bang said.

“What is that, Bang?” I wonder.

“Neap tide? Oh! it is a tide just after the first or third quarters of the moon when there is the least difference between high and low water.” Bang explains.

“Easily explanation is Neap Tide is lower water, water is look not moving”

Honestly, this is my first time to hear about his phenomenal. When I back to my hotel and search for more information. it said:

A spring tide—popularly known as a “King Tide”—refers to the ‘springing forth’ of the tide during new and full moon.
A neap tide—seven days after a spring tide—refers to a period of moderate tides when the sun and moon are at right angles to each other
(http://oceanservice.noaa.gov/facts/springtide.html)

One of the reasons why I love traveling is I always learn new thing from taking a journey. Some story is basic knowledge for others but new for me.

When we get out the mangrove forest, the long tail boat which drove by an uncle who always smiles takes us to the Khoa Khanab Nam. I have been visiting Krabi many times but I never travel in the main city much. This time makes me excited!

ลักษณะเหมือนหน้ากากผีเลยนะครับเนี่ย
ลักษณะเหมือนหน้ากากผีเลยนะครับเนี่ย

Bang explain to me while we are walking to the national park.

เขาขนาบน้ำ

“Khoa khanab Nam is one of our symbolic of Krabi. This mountain is high 100 meters. When you come to Krabi you can see this hill easily. Inside the hills has a cave which full with stalagmites and stalactites.”

14608875_10154122526688507_8623080781429711084_o

The pathway is really good. This is my first time to get inside the cave without waste much energy. Haha.

หินงอก หินย้อย

Inside the cave full of stalagmites, stalactites, and ancient drawing. Bang told me that this cave is used to be a living place for people in the ancient time. You will see some models which represented the lifestyle of ancient people inside the cave too. The models look so real. I almost shock when I see it the first time inside the dark cave.

14556627_10154122594178507_7411022595149449794_o-1

The entrance ticket is 30 THB for Adult and Free for children who is below 12 years.

After we have done with traveling inside the cave. Bang said today the weather is not good. So, we should go back to the hotel and have some rest. I agree with him because raining coming and I don’t want to get sick and last night I slept only 2 hours, now my head looks heavily.

คนขับเรือ

On the way back to the hotel we see the sculpture of a bird. I see that they are much sculpture in Krabi. Maybe every junction.

นกออก

This bird called “Nok Og” or Sea-eagle.

“Nok Og is also one of your symbolic in Krabi. Nok Og is an eagle which flies around here. We have a quote that related to this bird too”

“What the quote are you talking about?”

“Fly high, Look far and go,” Bang says.

Fly high is mean you should have an ambition, Look far means set the goal of your life and have a big dream. is means try to make your dream come true.

sleeping

Back to my room. OMG! I feel so sleepy. I slept more 2 hours. When wake up I feel so hungry. Luckily that I know a young man who ever chat with me in facebook. And he want to visit me. So, we go to have dinner at the restaurant where not too much far from my hotel. The price of food here is OK. I like the food here too. Yummy!

OK. I have to finish my story for today here. Tomorrow I still have many things to do. I don’t know that the weather will be good or not. PRAY!

Haha, my story still not done bro. Actually, my first plan is I only want to visit Chongqing but because of my friend who want to travel with me he cancel his flight. So, I decide to travel longer. And I see the flight ticket on the internet from Chongqing to Xi’an only 640 RMB! Xi’an is one my destination! Therefore, Go man go!!!!

IMG_0177

And Yeah. that is my beginning of this Xi’an trip. If you guy want to know how can I check the cheap flight ticket in China. I use this website, ctrip.com. It is a really good website where you can check the flight ticket price, hotel and train schedule. English version also well provided. I ask my Chinese friends, Alan, to help me booking a flight ticket because of I don’t have a credit card. My friend says it is so easy to book a ticket from this website. When he finished booking a ticket for me. He sends me an email for Flight airline and booking number. I only bring this information to the check-in counter and they will give me a boarding pass at the airport.

Because of this Xi’an trip is an urgent trip. So, I don’t have much time for finding the information about this city. I have only three days for preparing myself for the trip. I search on the internet for hotel, transportation, and check for the main tourist attractions. There are some places that I want to visit. There are Ther terracotta warriors, Drum’s tower, Bell’s tower and the Xi’an city wall. OK. Now I know where should I go and yeah… I think I am ready.

IMG_0135

I depart Chongqing at night and arrive Xi’an almost 8:40pm. The bus which will go to my hotel area is over. But it is ok because I contact a hostel owner, Leo (I don’t know why many Chinese has English name… LEO.. I have 3 Leo friends now). Leo says I should take Airport Bus to the city. The hostel name is Twin city International Youth Hotel. Its location is really good! Close to the big mall and subway. The room price is not expensive. I stay there two nights only 85 RMB. The room is fine and this is my first time to stay in a hostel with others. From his hostel, I can walk to the Xi’an city wall in 10 minutes. I highly recommend you guy, who has a small budget to stay here. Leo speak English pretty well! So, you don’t need to worry about language now. However, his hostel has only one toilet. Therefore, make sure you manage your time well.

Airport bus from Xi’an airport to the terminal station, Xi Shao Men station(西稍门站) provide a free wifi too! The ticket is 25 RMB for taking that bus. Leo says he will pick me up at the bus stop and then we take a taxi to his hostel. His hostel is close to Zhong Mao Plaza. Taxi price is 12 RMB.

Leo is so friendly! He is younger than me 2 years. I ask him for how to go to the terracotta warriors. He wrote me a map and the information. I have to say that his hostel location is a really good spot for taking bus or subway. He told me that I have to cross the road to the opposite side. And then take a bus number 40 or 258. Then, get off at a railway station. After that, take a bus number 5 (306). Be careful that when you arrive that railway station you will see a lot of Chinese come to you and try to sell you a ticket. Don’t get mad and don’t need to buy from them. You just walk to the bus number 306. This bus will take you to the terminal station, it is the terra cotta warriors or Bing Ma Yong in Chinese (Remember Chinese name is really helpful… believe me).

**Warning***
Toilet at City wall and railway station are super terrible! I don’t need to explain as you should hear about Chinese toilet before! It is much more than your imagination! No door! No water! no shy!! and… a lot of Shit with smelly. OMG! People who taking poop just chilling on his phone while pooping and other who in line to use the toilet just stand beside him and watching him. Amazing! Amazing!!!!

OK. I am so tired of Chinese toilet. Haha. After we take a bus number 306. You can take a seat any seat you desire. The bus ticket is only 7 RMB. On the way, the bus guide will ask you if you want to get off before Bing Ma Yong? For me, NO. I only want to visit the terracotta warriors. 30 Minutes later, I arrive the Bing Ma Yong station. Excited!

IMG_9673

I get off the bus and follow Chinese people (Yeah. I have some skill for surviving). At the entrance gate, you will see a big statue of king Qin Shi Huang. I take a photo of his statue and walk to a ticket counter. While I am walking to the ticket counter, I see many tour guides ask me if I interest to using their service. The price is 150 RMB for 2 hours. I am not interested in using their service right now because I have downloaded the information to read here already. Haha. But I think it is better to have a guide because they are clever and can explain in some details that we don’t know or can’t see in the book. I don’t know why that time I am not asking them for guide me. Ahzzzz…

IMG_9680

The entrance ticket of Bing Ma Yong is 100 RMB. Cheaper than I expected. Today, the temperature is low. Very cold for me. The highest temperature at that time about 3 Celcius degree only! So, make sure you are checking the weather well before come here. Too much cold is never fun for me. The way to Bing Ma Yong is full with trees which have no leaves. Beautiful but… look scary too.

IMG_9690

I plan to visit a museum first. If you come here and want to use a toilet. Just go, the toilet here is clean. NOOO SHIT! inside the museum is pretty cool! a lot of exhibition about the terra cotta warriors. Nevertheless, some exhibition is a temporary showing. So, it does not show when I been there.

IMG_9694

I really like the museum. So, this museum is very cool for me. I walk there to there and forget the time. I told myself… You still have many places waiting for you to visit BUKSOHN! But who cares? I come alone. My plan is super flexible. Haha.

IMG_9718

As more as I walk to see the showing stuff. It is much more interesting. Chinese people are super awesome! How can they built many amazing things like that! WOW and Wow!!!

IMG_9720

I take many photos of this trailer. It is so beautiful. I am not sure that it is was renovated already or not because it looks new.

IMG_9747

Yahoo!! This is the figure that I want to see! As the information which I have read said. Each figure are different! and all of them are handmade! Wooooooooow!! My Chinese friend says it is the 8th wonders.

IMG_9750

Each figure expresses different feeling. The Archaeologist said we can tell who the doll is representative to. A villager, a warlord or others by his dressing. And when they were found, each baked clay was painted with colorful colors! But, sadly that it has a reaction to Oxygen. The colorful color becomes black. This is a reason why Chinese government does not allow to dig more. Now they open only 3 holes. But each hole is larger than football yard! I can’t imagine if they open all. How will big it this!

IMG_9763

Bing Ma Yong or the terracotta warriors is a tomb of king Qin Shi Huang. It is also a world heritage which graded 5A of China. The story of this tomb is King Qin Shi Huang wants to find the medicine to help him live eternally but he can’t find it. So, he thinks if he died he should build a big tomb for his afterlife! This tomb was built for 38 years with 2,180 Square kilometer. Very huge!

IMG_0179

Inside the tomb was separated to be the inner court and outer court. The inner court is used for keep the body of King Qin Shi Huang. Why has a lot of figures? The reason is they are believing this is the representative of King servants who will go to the after death world with him. I am not sure that when King passes away, the servants will be killed or not (I read a lot of Chinese novels and it makes me curious about this too).

IMG_9851

When I finish traveling in the museum, I go to the pit number 2. This pit looks like L shape. its size is about 6,000 square meters. Inside this pit is look like the above photo. It can’t believable this is the tomb which built 2,000 years ago. Chinese culture is so amazing!

IMG_9863

Pit 2 has cavalry and infantry units as well as war chariots and is thought to represent a military guard. Which these baked clays, you can tell that how King Qin Shi Huang powerful is.

IMG_9911

It is a spot for taking the photo. You have to pay 20 RMB for taking the photo here. I don’t too miss it too. Don’t worry if you come alone because they have a photographer who will take the photo for you. I get 5-6 shots of the photo. Next time I should practice more for how to be a good modeling. Haha.

IMG_9923

As I told you, there are a lot of sculptures. Some sculptures have the information to help you understand more. This sculpture is sitting and holding the arrow.

IMG_9922

On that day, many tourists come to visit the terracotta warriors. But I don’t understand why they move there and then so fast. Not over 2 minutes for each spot. Just take photo and go.

IMG_0004

How about pit 3? The pit number 3 is not too big but very important. It is the command post, with high-ranking officers and a war chariot. I have read the information about this pit that said at first when they discover this pit, every sculpture is full of weapons.

IMG_0179

I plan to travel here all day. So, I have a lot of time. Inside the tomb is dark. I need to speed up to ISO for taking a photo. The new camera is really OK for high ISO with small noises.

IMG_0279

Each spot has a sculpture. Most of the sculptures are in pit number 1. It contains the main army of more than 6,000 figures!

IMG_0135

I think this tomb is beautiful but also looks scary. I am not a man who afraid of ghost. I just think if each figures each a real preventative of an army who was killed? it is a big tragedy.

IMG_0190

My first feeling when I get inside the tomb is “Surprise”. Surprised for its size and a number of figures. Qin Shi Huang is so powerful.

IMG_0182

I am really happy to visit here. Now, it is a time to go back to the city. I can’t find bus number 306! Where is it? So, I take a different bus to Xi’an. The ticket is 8 RMB. It is not a good bus. Super slow! So, Please remember “ONLY bus number 5 (306)”.

IMG_0417

Chinese says For know each other is not a coincidence but it is a destiny. We met a lot of people each day but not everybody will be our friends.

These aunts are Xi’an people. We met each other in Chongqing while we are going to travel Wulong Karst. At that time, I can’t speak Chinese well and they can’t speak English well too. So, we can’t communicate to each other well. Haha. They told me that they are from Xi’an. And I told them I will go to Xi’an after finishing my Chongqing traveling. I ask them for their Wechat ID to keep in touch.

When I arrived Xi’an. Aunts take me to have dinner. They pay everything for me. I feel not comfortable. I told them that I want to pay by myself but they said I don’t need too. They want to welcome me to Xi’an. Aunts ask me to try the local food. I’d love to! I have tried Yang Rou Pao Mu. Very delicious.

Aunts can’t communicate in English. So, one of them takes her son to join us. His name is Wang Yao. He is studying architecture in Xi’an architecture university. His English is pretty good. All of them are so friendly and humble. I really like them and appreciate their kindness. I tell them to visit Thailand and I will be their tour guide :).

IMG_0412

Aunts take a bus to pick me up at the hostel. After that, we are walking to the Xi’an City wall, South Gate. This wall is not far from my hostel. Aunts told me that this side is the most beautiful of the city wall. At night they are decorating the wall with a lot of lightings. Gorgeous! LIKE!

IMG_0416

Wang Yao and His mother look like a brother and sister! His mom looks young. It makes me think of my mom. I consider to the time when we meet each other at Chongqing. We communicate with each other through translation application. Sometimes we don’t understand, so we just laugh. That’s why when we meet each other again in Xi’an, we are so happy. Aunts bring me a big bag of snacks! Thank you, aunties 🙂

IMG_0439

At night, Xi’an city wall was decorated with the lights. So beautiful. Aunts take me to the Drum’s tower and Bell’s tower. I tried Yang Rou Pao Mu on the Muslim street. It is a local food which comes with a goat meat.

Aunts say that most of the tourist are not like this food. I told them that I like it.

And this is my story about backpacking in China. I am so much fun in the place that I dream about. I am so happy to meet good people. However, my backpack story is still not done. Next story I will take you to visit the world heritage in the other county. I have to say that it is so superb! Keep in touch and see you!

Main activities for this trip

  • Stay in Twin City International Youth Hostel.
  • Take bus number 306 to the terracotta warriors, 7 RMB.
  • Buy entrance ticket 100 RMB
